Richard Darden

Richard Earl Darden, 52, of the 2800 block of S. Nansemond Drive, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at the family farm in Murfreesboro.
A native of Portsmouth, VA, he was a member of Good News Baptist Church in Chesapeake and was retired as a Nuclear Machinist from Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Denise Kimker Darden; his mother, Joan Bundy Darden of Elizabeth City; three daughters, Samantha Cushing of Gates, Kimberly Darden of Suffolk, VA and Sarah Darden of Sidney, Australia; a sister, Dana Brown of Currituck; a brother, Roy W. Darden, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA; and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his step mother, Sue Darden of Chesapeake, VA; and step sisters, Shirley Johnson of Chesapeake, VA, Carolyn Carroll of Suffolk, VA and Linda Albertson of Shawboro.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 at the Darden Family Cemetery in Mapleton with the Rev. Mark Taylor officiating.
