Mary Vonzola Bishop, 73, of Harewood Road, Murfreesboro, died Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at her residence.
A native of Hertford County, she was a member of Parker’s Grove Baptist Church where she served as Pastor’s Aid and a member of the Senior Choir and Missionary Circle.
Bishop was a retired as a custodian from Chowan University.
Survivors include her children, Joann Bishop-Williams of Winton, Ruby Eason, Robin Ruffin and Judie Boone, all of Murfreesboro, Florence Tann of Powellsville and Evelyn Monger, Pamela White, Toni Bishop Gatling and Ruben Bishop Jr., all of Durham; sisters, Florence Whitaker, Evelyn Whitehead, Yvonne Bishop, Dorothy Bishop and Goldie Stevenson, all of Murfreesboro; brothers, Paul Eley and Horace Eley, both of Mt. Olive, Stanley Eley of Dunn and Oris Eley of Murfreesboro; 21 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24 at Parkers Grove Baptist Church, Mapleton, with the Rev. Dr. Fernando E. Temple officiating. Burial will be in the Bishop Family Church Cemetery, Mapleton.
