William Barnes

Mr. William Cecil Barnes, age 77, of Conway died Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
Mr. Barnes was born October 18, 1931 in Northampton County, the son of the late Gale B. Barnes and Jessie Tyler Barnes. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae Barnes.
Mr. Barnes was a member of Severn Baptist Church, a licensed pilot, and a very faithful member of Conway-Severn Rescue Squad where he was a registered EMT.
Survivors include his sisters, Blannie B. Britton and her husband, Franklin, of Lasker, Mildred B. Britton and her husband, Billy, of Galatia, Vivian Turner and her husband, Charlie, of Severn, Faye B. Davis and her husband, Clifton, of Conway and Elaine B. Davis and her husband, George, of Rich Square as well as many nieces and nephews and many special caregivers.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Severn Baptist Church, Severn, with the Rev. Brent Hobbs and the Rev. Tim Hogan officiating. Burial will follow at Severn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Conway-Severn Rescue Squad or Severn Baptist Church.
Arrangements are being handled by Massey Funeral Home in Jackson.
