James Bert Walker, 96, of Bulls Bay Road, Columbia, NC died Monday, January 12, 2009, in Winslow Memorial Home, Elizabeth City.
A native of Tyrrell County, Walker was a retired farm equipment mechanic from R.C. Abbott Company in Elizabeth City
Survivors include his wife, Elsie W. Walker; daughters, Claresse W. Alford of Newnan, GA and Pamela W. Cobb of Elizabeth City; two stepdaughters, Joan Pickell of Elizabeth City and Bertha Martin of Winston-Salem; and one granddaughter.
A celebration of life service will be held at Twiford’s Memorial Chapel, 405 E. Church Street, Elizabeth City, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15 with Captain James McGee and Rev. Leon Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14 and other times at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Cobb, 1069 Florida Road, Elizabeth City.
