William A. “Bro” Cofield, 80, of Farless Road, Merry Hill, died Sunday, December 28, 2008 at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.
A native of Chowan County, he was a member of Oxley Hill Baptist Church, Merry Hill.
He was last employed as a maintenance worker with Town of Windsor.
Survivors include six daughters, Audrey Lawrence of Spring Lake, NC, Brenda Savage of Harrellsville, Cheryl White and Carmenlita Cofield, both of Powellsville, and Janice Capehart and Peggy Leary, both of Colerain; six sons, William Cofield of Rich Square, Jeffrey Cofield of Powellsville, Curtis Cofield of Ahoskie, James Cofield of Kentucky and Milton Bass and Larry Leary, both of Colerain; his mother, Erma S. Cofield of Ahoskie; 28 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4 at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rich Square, with the Rev. Gregory Gilliam officiating. Burial will be in Wilder-Cherry Family Cemetery, Aulander.
