Walter Lyon

Walter H. “Skinny” Lyon, 87, of Powellsville died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
He was born December 14, 1921 in Bertie County to the late Walter Clarence Lyon and Lucille Harrell Lyon.
He was a member of Powellsville Baptist Church, The Scrub Club of Powellsville, was a past member of the Powellsville Fire Department and retired from the North Carolina DOT.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the graveside in Stoney Creek Cemetery, Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 11 a.m. Rev. Brian Medlin will officiate.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Betty Rawls Lyon of the home; children, Glenda Jackson and her husband, Richard, and Gloria Layton and her husband, Ray, all of Edenton, Grace Hoggard and her husband, Stan, of Windsor, Gay Feher and her husband, Johnny, of Ahoskie and Ginger Skinner and her husband, Carroll, of Edenton; a niece, Kris Jones of Durham; a nephew, Dal Lyon of Clifton Forge,VA; a sister in law, Joyce Lyon of Durham; and friend and caregiver, Sharon Privott; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and two great nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Dalton Lyon.
