Mrs. Pynell B. Jones, 83, died at the Rich Square Health Care Center in Rich Square on Monday, December 15, 2008.
She was a native of Bertie County.
Mrs. Jones was married to Robert Jones Jr. and lived in Scotland Neck for many years while working at the Halifax Hosiery Mill and later Paul Bruce Manufacturing. In the late seventies they moved to Conway.
Mr. Jones died in 1988 and she continued to live at home with her son. She and her son moved to Murfreesboro approximately five years ago so that they could be close to her daughter, Shirley. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Preceding her in death other than her husband are her mother and father, Tenie Hoggard Barnes and Albert Barnes; her sister, Sarah Vashti Francis; and her brother, Albert Barnes.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley J. Futrell and her husband, Herbert; one son, Robert Allen Jones, all of Murfreesboro; and one sister, Annie Briggs and her husband, Haywood, of Suffolk, VA. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Janet Francis, Wynn Futrell and Allen Jones; and six great grandchildren, Alana and Harley Jones, Brandon and Justin Francis, Megan and Hunter Futrell.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck. Officiating will be the Rev. David Foster.
