Thomas W. Griffin Jr. died December 7, 2008 at the Brian Center in Windsor, NC.
He was born in Lewiston-Woodville in Bertie County on January 20, 1918 to Thomas Whitmel Griffin and Margaret McKenzie Urquhart Griffin.
After graduating in 1937 from Virginia Episcopal School, Lynchburg, VA, and attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he returned home to help manage the family farms and Woodville Supply Company.
He served on numerous county agricultural boards and was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Woodville, serving as a Senior Warden of the Vestry.
Thomas Griffin is survived by his sister, Margaret U. Griffin, of the home, numerous cousins and dedicated caregivers.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Grace Episcopal Church Churchyard, Lewiston-Woodville, with Rev. Joe Cooper officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the home of John and Claudia Griffin.
