Brenda Jean Wright Smallwood, 61, of Early Station Road died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A native of Florida, Smallwood was a graduate of Institutional Bible School in Lakeland, Florida.
She was retired from Wassaic Developmental Center in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Smallwood was a member of Second Baptist Church in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Smallwood of Aulander; a son, Walter Smallwood Jr. of Fishkill, NY; a daughter, Lisa Wright of Lakeland, Florida; and five brothers, Davey Wright, James McCraw and Jerry McCraw, all of Lakeland, Florida, Willie McCraw of Ocala, Florida and Eugene Wright of Tampa, Florida.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Nov. 24 at Piney Wood Chapel Baptist Church, Ahoskie. The Rev. Aaron Lewis officiated.
Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie.
Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc. of Aulander was in charge of the arrangements.
