EURE – Two Gates County neighbors remain hospitalized following a head-on accident near here Saturday.
Jessica Wall, 19, and 65-year-old Bobby Grant, both of Eure, were airlifted to Sentera Norfolk General Hospital as a result of the injuries they sustained in the 3:40 p.m. crash.
According to a report filed by North Carolina State Highway Patrol Trooper W.T. Smith, Wall was operating a
1993 Honda passenger car west on NC 137 in the Eure community. Meanwhile, Grant was driving a 1995 Jeep east on NC 137.
Trooper Smith’s report showed that Wall was apparently driving in excess of the posted speed limit (45 mph) at which time her car traveled left of center and collided, head-on, with Grant’s vehicle.
Following the impact, Wall’s vehicle spun around and came to rest in the middle of the roadway. Grant’s vehicle continued to travel off the right side of the road, rolled over, struck a ditch and came to rest on its side in the ditch.
Both drivers, who live less than two-tenth’s of one mile from the accident scene, were transported to a helicopter landing zone set-up at Tarheel Bar-B-Que on US 13. There, two helicopters were used to air lift the accident victims to Norfolk.
Charges are pending.
