Edward Conner

Edward Cohen Conner, 81, died at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville, on Saturday, November 8, 2008.
Conner was born in Bertie County and has lived most of his life in Scotland Neck. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Scotland Neck. He was a deacon for 24 years.
Conner was employed by the Town of Scotland Neck for 30 years where he worked for the Water and Sewer Department. Following retirement from the Town of Scotland Neck, he became self employed and worked as a plumber for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Dorothy Strickland Conner of the home; one son, Rev. Ray Conner Sr. of Newport; one brother, Linwood Conner of Aulander; four sisters, Barbara Taylor of Woodruff, S.C., Marilyn Daniels of Ahoskie, Betty Mizelle of Aulander and Elva Dean Burden of Aulander; three grandsons and one great grandson.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, November 11 at the Hope Free Will Baptist Church in Scotland Neck with the Rev. Matt Jones, Rev. Billy Poteat and Rev. Ray Conner, Sr. officiating. Interment followed at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck.
