Philip Lafayette Daniel, 94, of Bethel Church Road, Pleasant Hill, died November 3, 2008 at his home.
Daniel was born March 16, 1914, in Northampton County, the son of the late James Estee Daniel and Hattie Belle Stephenson.
Daniel was a lifelong member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served over 50 years as a Deacon, served for over 40 years as the treasurer of the church and served on many committees over the years.
He was a farmer and co-owner of Daniel Brothers Gin for many years in the Bethel community.
Survivors include his daughter, Dianne Daniel Mumford of Pleasant Hill; a son, Charles L. Daniel of Pleasant Hill; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 6 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Manion and Rev. Franklin Stansbury officiating. Burial will follow at the Daniel Family Cemetery.
