Merle Junior Hayes, 60, a native of Bertie County, died October 14, 2008 at his residence.
Hayes was a member of World Harvest Christian Center, Windsor. He was a landscaper at Holland Landscaping Company.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Brown Hayes of Windsor; a son, Andrew Mondrey of Hawaii; daughters, LaWanda Cofield of Edenton, Angela Brown of Williamston, Veronica Brooks of Ahoskie, Andrea Brown and April Mondrey, both of Windsor and Robin Brown of Windsor; brothers, Levi Hayes of Portsmouth, Va., James Hayes and Anthony Hayes, both of Merry Hill and Darnell Hayes of Windsor; sisters, Sarah Hayes of Lewiston, Mary Wilkins of Windsor, Mary Ann Hayes of Lewiston and Maria Hayes of Windsor; and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at World Harvest Christian Center, Windsor, by Pastor Gregory Gilliam. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is in charge.
