Lena Smith Harrell, 90, a native of Chowan County, died October 16, 2008, in her home. She was the widow of Jesse L. Harrell.
Mrs. Harrell was a homemaker, she was a member of Edenton United Methodist Church, the Edenton Woman’s Club, and had been a volunteer with the Chowan Hospital Auxiliary. I
Survivors include a daughter, Linda H. Hobbs of Gatesville; two sons, Phil Harrell of Seven Lakes and Ronnie Harrell of Raleigh; and nine grandchildren.
Following a private graveside service in Beaver Hill Cemetery, a service of celebration for her life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday.in the Edenton United Methodist Church by the Rev. Susanna W. Fitch-Slater. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church following the service or other times at the residence. Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Edenton United Methodist Church, 225 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
