Emily Wilson Warren Leake, 78, of the 200 block of Brinkleyville Road, died Tuesday, October 14, 2008, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
Mrs. Leake was born in Bertie County, a daughter of the late Willie and Stella Dempsey Warren. Emily was a member of United Outreach Ministries and had retired as a telephone operator from Carolina Telephone. She was known for her love of music and played piano for many area weddings and funerals and was pianist at some area churches.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Robert Elwood “Bo” Leake; a son, James Elwood Leake and wife, Sonya, of Winterville, NC and two grandchildren, Zachary and Kelly Leake of Winterville; a sister-in-law, Callie L. Cooper of Ahoskie; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, 2008, at Garrett Funeral Home-Ashley Chapel, 205 NC Highway 42 West, Ahoskie, with the Rev. J. R. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Ahoskie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, and other times at the home.
