Estelle Burgess Drake, 78, widow of Sylvester Drake, died October 12, 2008. Born in Northampton County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Gurney O. and Ethel Duke Burgess. Mrs. Drake was a retired nursing assistant and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, David Drake of Newsoms and D. R. Drake and wife, Deborah, of Courtland; one sister, Annie Burgess Holland and husband, Richard, of Virginia Beach; and one brother, G. O. Burgess, Jr. and wife, Janie, of Conway, NC.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 pm Wednesday at Hollywood Cemetery with Lou Henish officiating. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, has charge of arrangements. Condolences may be offered at www.wrightfuneralhome.org.
