Willie C. “Baby Ray” Newsome, died October 8, 2008 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Ahoskie, by the Rev. H.H. Murrill. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. A wake will be held from 12-1 p.m. Tuesday at Calvery Missionary Baptist Church. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Newsome was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include four sons, Jerome Newsome of Winton, Arnold Newsome of Murfreesboro, Clayton Newsome of Fayetteville and Derwin Newsome of Temple, Texas; four daughters, Malinda Carmon of Greensboro, Carolyn Kerns of Winston-Salem, Vicki Arnold of Petersburg, Va., and Alicia N. Gatling of Ahoskie; two sisters, Jessie Taylor of Ahoskie and Hazel Mitchell of Norfolk; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
