George Thomas “ G. T.” Doughtie, Jr., a native of Kelford, died October 4, 2008.
Doughtie was a retired electrician and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Emma Davis Doughtie; his daughter, Beth D. Edwards Greg of Roanoke Rapids; his sons, Carl “Rabbit” Doughtie of Roanoke Rapids and Todd Doughtie of Roanoke Rapids; his brother, Wesley Doughtie of Roanoke Rapids; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids by Kirk Taylor III. Askew Funeral and Cremation Services at 731 Roanoke Ave in Roanoke Rapids, is in charge. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.askewfs.com. The flag in front of the funeral home flies at half-staff in honor of Mr. Doughtie’s service to his country.
