Nancy Swain Banks, 62, of the 400 block of Lee Jernigan Road, died Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at her home.
Mrs. Banks was born in Hertford County, a daughter of the late C. W. and Sarah King Swain. She was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and was retired as a Registered Nurse at Martin General Hospital.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Lori B. Cooke of Ahoskie; a son, Scott Byrum of Conway; a sister, Janice Swain Hughes of Merry Hill, NC; and two brothers, Roy Earl Swain of Ahoskie, and L. B. Swain of Windsor, NC. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Chelsea Woolard and Shelby Cooke.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at Garrett Funeral Home-Ashley Chapel, 205 NC Highway 42 West, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Raleigh Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Ahoskie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Friday, October 3, 2008.
