Syble Taylor Smallwood Thomas, 81, a native of Bertie County, died September 29, 2008.
Mrs. Thomas was a retired school teacher from Colerain Elementary School. She was a member of Conoconary Baptist Church, Aulander and a graduate of Elizabeth City State University.
Survivors include a son, Robert Smallwood Sr. of Newport News; brothers, Luther Taylor of Colerain, Wadrie “WH” Taylor and Thomas “TE” Taylor, both of Cofield; a sister, Eloise Watford of Cofield; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at Conoconary Missionary Baptist Church, Aulander, by the Rev. Theresa Dudley Gaskin. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
