Ridgecroft tennis wins again

AHOSKIE – Ridgecroft School split a pair of tennis outings recently.
The Lady Rams downed Faith Christian School 7-2 just days after falling to Kerr-Vance Academy by a final of 9-0.
On Tuesday, Ridgecroft used four singles victories and swept the doubles contests to grab the victory.
The Lady Rams were led by second-seeded Caroline Bowman, who routed Teresa Hall by identical counts of 6-0. After that, third seed Taylor Futrell grabbed a 6-1, 6-0 win over Catherine Cherry.
Ridgecroft continued winning at number four when Erin Riddick secured a victory over Kristin Watson by identical counts of 6-1. The final singles victory was a 6-1, 6-1 win by Alex Riddick over Megan Catt.
Faith Christian top seed Kaitlin Blalock edged Lady Rams’ number one Tayler Smith 3-6, 7-5 and 10-6. Faith Christian number six seed Sam Gurganus defeated Katie Futrell 7-5, 6-4.
In doubles action, the Lady Rams swept all three matchups. The number one team of Smith and Bowman took an 8-5 win over Blalock and Hall while Futrell and E. Riddick defeated Katie Barnes and Anne Howell 8-0.
In the final match, A. Riddick and Roxie Daniels defeated Caroline Leland and Caroline Matthews 8-4.
On Friday, the Lady Rams were swept by Kerr-Vance Academy, the number two seed in the 1-A ranks of the North Carolina Independent School Athletic Association.
KVA’s Tricia Terry started the victories for her team by defeating Caroline Bowman 8-2 in a battle of number ones. Emily Adkins then defeated Taylor Futrell 8-2.
In the battle of number threes, Sarah Morgan Hunter defeated Erin Riddick 8-1 while KVA number four seed Cat Blackburn defeated Alex Riddick 8-2.
Fifth-seeded Elizabeth Hill knocked off Roxie Daniels 8-2 while sixth seed Elizabeth Irvin secured an 8-1 win over Katie Futrell.
The Lady Rams are now 3-2 overall.
