GOLDSBORO – Ridgecroft scored a huge Coastal Plains Independent Conference road victory Tuesday.
The Rams rolled to a 6-0 soccer win over Wayne Country Day School thanks in large part to a five-goal game from senior Hanes Joyner.
Ridgecroft Head Soccer Coach Aron Martin said WCD played with a somewhat depleted roster for a variety of reasons, but said also that he thought his team did what was necessary to win.
“It was very rainy and because of that not our sharpest performance, but we did enough,” Martin said. “Hanes played well and had five goals on the afternoon.”
The Rams also got a goal from Asher Turner in the 6-0 rout.
“Defensively, we played soundly,” Martin said.
The victory pushed the Rams to 5-3 overall and 2-2 inside the CPIC.
In junior varsity action, the Rams claimed a 3-0 win over Wayne Country Day.
Elijah Goolsby, Landon Larabee and Daniel Early had goals for the jayvee Rams.
Ridgecroft’s j.v. team improved to 2-1 in the CPIC and 2-2 overall.
