Ted Michael Lassiter, Jr., 49, passed away Saturday evening in Waverly, West Virginia. Lassiter, who was born in Greenville and raised in Bertie County, was preceded in death by father Ted Michael Lassiter, Sr.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sue Schmidt Lassiter of Waverly, WV; children, Cassidy Lassiter and Grayson Lassiter of Waverly, WV; mother, Florence Daniels Lassiter of Colerain, NC; sister, Kimberly Lassiter Price of Windsor, NC; niece, Jennipher Dickens of Windsor, NC and her son, Christopher Michael Daughtrey also of Windsor, NC; in-laws Stephanie and Dave Westfall and Sam and Phillip Schmidt, and good friend Leroy Adams. A memorial service will be held at Leavittes Funeral Home on Thursday in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
Lassiter served six years in the United States Navy, and served aboard the USS Dahlgren.
Due to the tragic circumstances surrounding his death, in which his wife and two children lost everything they owned in a house fire, the family is asking that in lieu of flowers, donations or memorials be sent to his wife and children in the care of Dave Westfall, at 2420 Old Ashby Ridge Rd., Parkersburg, WV 26101. Donations can also be made to the Ted M. Lassiter, Sr. Memorial Scholarship Foundation at 908 Sterlingworth Street, Windsor NC 27983.
