Lucy Fretwell

Lucy Liverman Fretwell, 97, of the 100 block of Lucy Fretwell Lane, died Friday, September 12, 2008, in her home after a long illness, with family members and two special caregivers, Linda Sessoms and Ruth Mitchell at her side.
Mrs. Fretwell was born September 8, 1911, the daughter of Thomas and Eva Hines Liverman. She was a native of Hertford County and a member of First Baptist Church of Ahoskie.
Lucy is survived by two daughters, Gloria F. Thompson and husband, John of Chesapeake, VA, and Mary Ann F. Harrison of Ahoskie; a son, Tom Fretwell and wife, Carol Jean also of Ahoskie; seven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, Mrs. Fretwell was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde W. Fretwell, a daughter, Evelyn Fisher, a son-in-law, R.E. Harrison, a granddaughter, Melody Thompson and two special nephews, Jesse and Francis Benthall.
A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 15, 2008 at Garrett Funeral Home-Ashley Chapel, 205 NC Highway 42 West, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Dr. Jesse J. Croom and Rev. Robert May officiating. Burial will follow in Ahoskie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 14th and other times at the home, 108 Lucy Fretwell Lane, Ahoskie.
