Richard Elmo Riddick, 80, a native of Gates County, died September 6, 2008, in Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
Riddick was a graduate of East Carolina Teacher’s College, now East Carolina University, he taught school for a short time and later retired from the Virginia Dept. of Transportation having worked many years as a draftsman. A member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church, he taught the Adult Men’s Sunday school class for 48 years and had served his country with the U.S. Army stationed in Germany.
Survivors include a niece; and four nephews.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sandy Cross Baptist Church by the Rev. E. Vernon Gilmer Jr. Burial will be in the Gatesville Cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, is in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to Sandy Cross Baptist Church, Hobbsville, NC 27946.
