Dennie Lee Rankins, 91, a native of Bertie County, died September 5, 2008 at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.
Rankins was a member of Ashland Missionary Baptist Church, Merry Hill and retired from Lea Lumber Company, Windsor.
Survivors include his sons, Dennie L. Rankins Jr. of Ahoskie, Herman Rankins of Aulander and Sherman Rankins of Germany; a daughter, Betty Holmes of Westland, Michigan; a brother, Norman Lee Rankins of Harrellsville; sisters, Gertrude White, Lonnie Mae Weaver, Virginia Perry, Maude Ester Stanley, and Barbara Outlaw, all of Powellsville; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-granchildren.
A funral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ashland Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. W.J. Best. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is in charge.
