Isaac M. Evans

SUFFOLK, Va. n Isaac McCoy Evans, 66, a native of North Carolina, died August 21 2008.

A funeral was conducted Monday at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory by the Rev. Stewart McCarter and Pastor Allen Lancaster. Interment was in Holly Lawn Cemetery with fireman’s rites. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice or Southside Baptist Church Building Fund at 917 Carolina Rd., Suffolk, Va. 23434. Condolences may be registered at www.parfuneralhome.com.

Evans retired after 30 years as a Lieutenant for the Suffolk Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley R. Evans; three daughters, Cynthia E. McClenney of Windsor, Pamela Evans of Eure and Wendy A. Funk of Stafford; a son, David W. Evans of Suffolk; three sisters, Frances Lassiter of Eure, Grace Stafford of Ivor and Jane Spivey of Sunbury; and one brother, Willie Evans of Suffolk; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Henry Hyman

WINDSOR n Henry Hyman, 65, died August 22, 2008 at Bertie Memorial Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Indian Woods Baptist Church, Windsor. A visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

Dan W. Perry

COLERAIN n Dan White Perry, 81, of the 2100 block of NC Hwy 45, North, died Sunday, August 24, 2008, at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation in Windsor, NC.

Mr. Perry was born in Bertie County, a son of the late George H. and Bettie White Perry.  He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Dan’s passions in life were his farming, from which he had retired, his fishing, and his family.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of over 60 years, Mary Hughson Perry, his four sons, Herbert Wayne Perry of Lafayette, CA, James Michael Perry of Colerain, NC, Danny Lynn Perry of Windsor, NC, and Flint Wood Perry, also of Colerain; his sisters, Sophia Perry Sumner of Ahoskie, and Sarah Perry Milbert of Woodbridge, VA; and a brother, George Donald Perry of Colerain.  He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Courtney E. Perry, Emily Keating Perry, Andrew Stephen Perry, Thad Perry, Brandon Perry, Justin Perry and Greg Boswell and a great granddaughter, Gracie Boswell.  Besides his parents, Mr. Perry was predeceased by two sisters, McNeil Perry Ball and Annie Mae Perry McGee.

A graveside celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2008, at Highland Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tommy Tripp officiating.  The family will receive friends at Garrett Funeral Home-Ashley Chapel, 205 NC Highway 42 West, Ahoskie, from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, and other times at the home.  Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Colerain Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Ronnie Riddick

MIAMI, Fla. n Ronnie “Antwan” Riddick, 28, formerly of Gates County, died August 22, 2008 in Miami.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Zion Tabernacle Baptist Church, Corapeake. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Stallings Funeral Chapel, Gatesville, is in charge.

Emma Taylor

POWELLSVILLE n Emma Taylor, 100, died August 24, 2008 at Guardian Care Nursing Home, Ahoskie.

William Boone

NEW YORK n William Boone, died August 20, 2008.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Harrellsville Chapel Baptist Church, Harrellsville. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Harvey Funeral Home, New York, is in charge. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is handling local arrangements.
