Susan Alford
ROCKY MOUNT n Susan Henderson Alford, 68, died August 4, 2008.

Viola P. Pulley
HERTFORD – Viola Tatamus Perry Pulley, 78, a native of Bertie County, died August 3, 2008, at the Albemarle Hospital. She was the widow of the late William Everett Pulley and Benjamin Pope Myrick Jr.
Mrs. Pulley was a homemaker and a member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Chesapeake.
Survivors include her daughters, Judy Marie Schieber of Suffolk and Cathy Lynn Moore of Toano, Va.; her sons, James B. Myrick, Joseph Michael Myrick Sr., both of Chesapeake, and Stephen A. Pulley of Hertford; a stepdaughter, Karen Ann Deeter of Chesapeake; a stepson, Dean Everett Pulley of Virginia Beach; a sister, Rhea Garrison and her brother, Wayne Perry; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Willie Walker Jr.
BELVIDERE – Willie Walker Jr., 76, died August 1, 2008.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Sunbury.
Antonio E. West Sr.
EDENTON – Antonio Edward West Sr., 42, died August 2, 2008, in Chowan Hospital.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, Hertford, by the Rev. William Sawyer. Burial will be in Riddick Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Belvidere. Viewing will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stallings Memorial Chapel, Hertford.
Calvin Woodard Sr.
SEVERN n Calvin Staton Woodard Sr., 80, a native of Northampton County, died August 1 at his home.
Woodard was a member of Severn Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and teacher for many years. He served in the US Army with the 42nd Engineer Company B. A former charter member of the Severn Volunteer Fire Department and member of the Severn-Pendleton Ruritan Club. He also, operated O.A. Woodard and Son grocery in Severn until it’s closure in 1990.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ann Garriss Woodard, three sons, Calvin Staton Woodard Jr. of Florida, Dennis Ray Woodard of Severn, and Ronnie Alton Woodard of Milwaukee; and three granddaughters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Severn Baptist Church with Rev. Brent Hobbs and Rev. Tim Hogan. Burial followed at the Severn Cemetery. Massey Funeral Home, Jackson, was in charge. AHOSKIE – Delois R. Miller, 71, died August 5, 2006 at Roanoke-Chowan
Hospital, Ahoskie.

WOODLAND n Johnny L. Brown, 61, died August 6, 2008 at his home.

CONWAY -William Bowser, 49, a native of Northampton County, died August 4, 2008 at his residence.
Survivors include two sons, Darren Taylor of Murfreesboro and Robert Porter of Roanoke Rapids; two daughters, Shawna Vinson of Rich Square and Jacqueline Watson of Havety Grace, MD; his mother, Roberta L. Bowser of Ahoskie; four brothers, Christopher of Philadelphia, Pa., Gregory of Palm Beach, FL, Robert of Conway and Phillip Bowser of Upper Marlboro; three sisters, Marjorie Joyner and Wanda Cofield, both of Ahoskie and Pamela Williams of Greenville; and nine grandchildren.

Shelia Revelle
BROOKLYN, NY – Shelia Revelle, 41, a native of Hertford County, died August 2, 2008 at Kings County Hospital, Brooklyn.
She was a sorter for the US Postal Service in NY.
Survivors include one son, Donnell Revelle; one daughter, Snade Revelle, both of the home; her mother, Maggie Buggie of Harrellsville; and one brother, Randall Buggie of Brooklyn.

COLERAIN – Fletcher Sessoms, 78, a native of Bertie County, died July 31, 2008 at Brian Nursing Home, Windsor.
Survivors include three sisters, Audrey Holley of Windsor, Rosetta White of Powellsville and Marie Leary of Virginia.
