WOODLAND – A Rich Square woman has been arrested after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend with a metal pipe.
On Monday, Alicia Winfrey Walden, 36 of 138 Old Country Trail in Rich Square was taken into custody by the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO). Walden was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, a Class E felony.
According to NCSO Chief Detective Captain D.M. Harmon, the charge stems from a stabbing that occurred Friday at approximately 10:33 p.m. at 6515 Highway 258 in Woodland.
Walden and her boyfriend, Grady Vaughan, were reportedly drinking when they got into a verbal argument that turned physical, Harmon said. Walden allegedly stabbed Vaughan once with a small, sharp aluminum pipe.
“As a result Mr. Vaughan received a severe laceration to his upper left chest area,” said Harmon.
Vaughan was transported to Roanoke Chowan Hospital and listed in critical condition; he was then airlifted by East Care to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
“Since that time his condition has gotten better and is now stable,” said Harmon.
Walden is being held in the Northampton County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond. Her first appearance in court is Thursday.
