SEABOARD – More than a month after he was released from jail, a Seaboard man is back behind bars.

According to Seaboard Police Chief George Reed, Coatney Randall Williams, 23, of 161 Blue Jay Trail in Seaboard was taken into custody Tuesday morning and charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Reed said the charges stem from a burglary that occurred July 24 on Central Street in Seaboard. Three shotguns were taken from a residence in that incident.

Two of those shotguns were confiscated by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department (RRPD) on Saturday (July 26) when they responded to a call of shots fired in the Madison Street area of that city.

The RRPD ran the serial numbers on the recovered guns and discovered they were reported stolen.

Reed said Williams was allegedly the one who sold the stolen guns.

Williams was taken into custody by Reed on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.

He was taken to the Northampton County Jail and placed under a $20,000 secured bond.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections web site, Williams was released on June 24 after serving three months for breaking and entering.
