WINTON – It didn’t take long for business to pick up.

Just three days into filing, Hertford County Board of Elections Director Sheila Privott has had a trio of filings for seats on the county board of education.

Incumbent J. Wendell Hall of Winton was the first to file notice of his candidacy, filling out paperwork shortly after opening on Monday.

On Tuesday, Jill Gadsden of Winton filed to seek one of the two open seats on the Hertford County Board of Education.

That proceeded Wednesday morning’s filing by Jennifer Lassiter of Aulander, another newcomer.

Current board member David L. Shields, whose term is up, has not filed to date.
