Golden Skillet edges Savin Hill

AHOSKIE – Golden Skillet scored seven times in two innings and then held on for a 7-5 win over Savin & Hill in the Ahoskie Recreation Department’s summer league here June 6.

Jordan Harrell tossed all six innings for Golden Skillet and struck out six in the victory.

Mitchell Godwin tossed four innings for Savin & Hill with eight strikeouts while Casey Howard went two innings and had three strikeouts.

Leading the way offensively for Golden Skillet was Marvin Harrell and Austin Britton, each of whom was 2-for-4. Cody Cobb was 1-for-3 with a triple and Jordan Harrell, Chase Colson and Cade Larabee were all 1-for-2.

Mitchell Godwin led Savin & Hill with a 2-for-3 night at the plate. Bobby Merritt, Casey Howard, Scott Lowe and Brock Merritt were all 1-for-3. Woody Lowe was 1-for-4.

Stoney Creek n 11, Home Life Care n 5

Stoney Creek scored eight runs in the first frame and cruised to an 11-5 victory over Home Life Care in a Little League game June 6.

Stoney Creek’s offensive output was led by Bryan Merritt’s 4-for-4 night at the plate and Bobby Merritt’s 3-for-4 night. Tucker Warren was also 2-for-2. Also recording hits were Quincy Godwin, Brandon Terry, David Wilks and Devon Ivey.

Eric Ortiz had a homerun and a single to lead Home Life Care. Koby Evans, Lewis Bridgers, Thomas Riddick and Thomas Moseley also had base hits.

Ackerman Grace was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts.

Schueck Steel n 14, Ellen’s Hair Affair n 4

Schueck Steel scored three runs in the second, third and fourth inning to outdistance Ellen’s Hair Affair 14-4 in a Junior Girl’s Softball Game June 5.

Ellen’s was led by Lauren Outlaw and Rachel Mosley, each of whom was 2-for-2 with a homerun.

Rotary n 19, Pizza Inn n 2

Rotary scored seven times in the second and 12 in the third to cruise to a 19-2 Midget League win over Pizza Inn June 2.

Cory Cutrell led Rotary with a perfect 3-for-3 performance while Nathan Askew was also spotless at 2-for-2. Duke Harrell was 2-for-3 for the evening.
