Wesley N. Daughtry

GREENVILLE n Wesley Neal Daughtry, 52, of the 100 block of Lancelot Drive, formerly of Murfreesboro, NC, died Monday, May 12, 2008, in Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Daughtry was born in Hertford County, a son of the late William Thomas “Bill” and Bessie Chambers Daughtry.  He received his Masters Degree from East Carolina University and worked as a librarian.

Wesley is survived by his wife, Debra Castello “Debbie” Daughtry; sisters, Mary D. Pridgen of Murfreesboro, NC, and Lillie Mae O’Neal of Portsmouth, VA; a brother, Winston C. Daughtry of Murfreesboro, NC;  nieces, Bessie Gail Pridgen Gee of Murfreesboro, Sheila Waterfield of Chesapeake, VA, Megan Ward and Mallory Ward of Ahoskie; nephews, Charles O’Neal of Portsmouth, VA, John O’Neal of Manassas, VA, Roger O’Neal of Virginia Beach, VA, Darrell Daughtry of Wakefield, VA, Wade Daughtry of Capron, VA; and Billy Pridgen of Murfreesboro;  great nieces, Katelyn O’Neal of Manassas, VA, Deborah Boncutter of Virginia Beach, VA and Morgan Daughtry of Capron, VA and great nephews, James Lee Pridgen and William Pridgen, both of Murfreesboro, C. J. O’Neal of Portsmouth, VA, John Wesley O’Neal of Virginia Beach, VA, Tyler Stiles of Chesapeake, VA , and Richard Daughtry of Wakefield, VA.

A celebration of life service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Garrett Funeral Home-Ashley Chapel, 205 NC Highway 42 West, Ahoskie, with the Rev. Robert May officiating.  Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro.  The family received friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.   Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930 B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC, 27834, or to University Health Systems Hospice, P.O. Lillie M. Lee

AHOSKIE – Lillie M. Lee, 91, a native of Hertford County, died May 13, 2008 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Fletcher Fountain

BROOKLYN, NY – Fletcher Fountain, 97, a native of Prentiss, MS, died May 9, 2008 at Suny Down State Hospital, Brooklyn.

Fountain was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church where he was a dedicated Trustee, on the Friendship Club and in the Senior Choir. Ee retired from Ebinger’s Baking Company and work for Brooklyn College as a custodian for numerous

years.

Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Fountain; one brother, Primous M. Fountain of Chicago; three sisters, Ardella Herron of Milwaukee, WI, Alberta Young of Detroit and Ernia Washington; and two grandsons.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist

William E. Brown

SCOTLAND NECK -William &uot;Dick&uot; Earl Brown, a native of Northampton County, died May 14, 2008 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

Brown was an agronomist.

Survivors include his wife, Johanna Staton Brown of the home, two daughters;

Amy Botti of Sellersville, PA, and Connie Brown of Pooler, GA;

two sons, Andy Brown of Orange City, FL and Michael Brown of Mexico; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck with the Rev. Roger Cope. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the Scotland Neck United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Sykes Funeral Service, Scotland Neck is in charge.

Randolph Parker

WINDSOR n Randolph Parker, 65, died May 12, 2008 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday at Sandy Point Baptist Church. There will be a walk through at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. on Friday. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Gilliam Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

Joe V. Myers

MERRY HILL n Joe Van Myers, 71, a native of Bertie County, died May 13, 2008 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville. He was the widower of Rosa Cale Myers.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Riverside Baptist Church by the Rev. Woody Copeland. The family will receive friends on Thursday at Walker Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times from Mr. Myer’s home. Memorial gifts may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, 1206 NC 45 N, Merry Hill, NC 27957.

Myers was a former employee of NC Department of Transportation and retired from Smithfield Packing Company.

Survivors include two daughters, Amy M. Sullivan of Stoneville and Penny M. Rogerson of Williamston; two sons, Joe Van Myers Jr. and Ken Myers, both of Merry Hill; three sisters, Virginia M. Oldham of Edenton, Bertha Ann M. Copestick of Rockville, Md., and Elizabeth M. Lewis of Tappahannock; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
