Mable F. Johnson
FORT WASHINGTON, MD n Mabel Flood “Aunt Beady” Johnson, 99, a native of Bertie, and formerly of Kelford, died April 16, 2008 at Fort Washington Hospital.
She was a member of
Sandy Branch Baptist Church, Roxobel. She was a retired nurse’s aide at Autumn Care Nursing Home, Rich Square.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce Brannock of Ft. Washington; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sandy Branch Baptist Church by the Rev. Lycurgus Harrell. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is in charge.
Priscilla Starke
LITTLETON n Priscilla Starke, 83, died April 20, 2008 at Magnolia Garden, Warrenton.

ROANOKE RAPIDS n Lelia M. Hunt, 71, died April 19, 2008 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

Joyce Modlin
SUNBURY n Joyce Greene Modlin, 67, a native of Gates County, died April 17, 2008 at Albemarle Hospital, Elizabeth City.
A funeral was conducted Sunday at Oak Grove Christian Church by the Rev. Garrett Lewis. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, was in charge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery Fund in care of Annette Modlin, 590 Hwy. 158, Sunbury, NC 27979.
Mrs. Modlin was formerly employed as a shipping clerk with Producers Peanut Co. in Suffolk, she later retired after 23 years of serving as the rural carrier with the Corapeake Post Office. She was a member of Oak Grove Christian Church and its Women’s Fellowship.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Jesse E. Modlin; two daughters, Kathy Modlin of Wilmington and Kimberly Casper of Jacksonville; two sons, Keith Modlin of Sunbury and Kevin Modlin of Fayetteville; a sister, Lois Jordan of Corapeake; two brothers, Dan Greene of Sunbury and Jack Greene of Suffolk; and eight grandchildren.
Janet M. Boone
DURHAM n Janet Marie Boone, died April 19, 2008 at her residence.
