APD seeks robbers

AHOSKIE – Two men, one armed with a handgun, are being sought in connection with a robbery here April 28 at the Wilco Hess convenience store on Academy Street.

Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh reported that shortly past 10:30 p.m. on that day, two men entered the store through the north side door. Both were reportedly wearing black masks, which was later confirmed by police officers looking at the store’s videotape.

Upon reaching the checkout counter, one of the suspects produced a silver colored handgun and demanded money from the cashier.

“The cashier obliged by handing over an undisclosed amount of cash,” Fitzhugh said.

Fitzhugh added that the suspects exited the same door of which they entered and were last seen walking north on Academy Street.

The suspects are described as black males, both in the 5’9” range and both appearing in their 20’s. The gunman had braids in his hair and wore a black t-shirt and blue jean shorts. The other wore a black t-shirt and black pants.

The cashier was not injured during the robbery.
