AHOSKIE – Busted!

Over the past several months, graffiti artists have managed to avoid arrest following their “painting” spree of Ahoskie based businesses. That came to an end here Wednesday.

Two male juveniles (ages 13 and 12) were apprehended while another four culprits are being sought, according to Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh.

“We took two immediately into custody after one of my officers observed a group of young males spray painting a building,” Fitzhugh said. “Both have been served with juvenile warrants and we are in the process of drawing up juvenile warrants on two others that we involved.”

The other two juveniles, both males, were ages 14 and 15.

Meanwhile, criminal warrants have been drawn for the arrest of Michael (aka “Mike Mike”) Sessoms, 18, as well as 17-year-old Delton (aka “DJ”) Melton, both of Ahoskie. They are wanted in the graffiti case for breaking and entering and damage to real property.

Chief Fitzhugh said APD Officer D. Flores was on routine patrol on Wednesday when he spotted several subjects spray painting a building. Flores called for back-up and APD Sgt. A. Snape and Officer T. Ruffin arrived, at which time the suspects fled. After a foot chase, the two younger suspects were apprehended.

“We caught two of the suspects, but we know who the other four are,” Fitzhugh said. “Officer Flores is to be commended for being very observant and for maintaining his position while he waited for back-up to arrive.”
