WINDSOR – Starting next fiscal year, Bertie County will have a tool in place to hopefully help garner more grants.

The county will pay $24,000 to eCivis, Inc. for one year of service beginning July 1. Their mission statement says that the company &uot;improves local government grant success through expert research information, training, and technology.&uot;

To do that, eCivis will train county employees how to access the company’s grant locator database and use it to find applicable grants that benefit the county.

It is thought that this will cut down on much of the time and paperwork now necessary to locate grants, thus saving money in the long run.

ECivis gave Bertie County the option of implementing the program now and pro-rating the yearly cost from February 28 to June 30, but the county instead opted to wait until the start of the fiscal year (July 1).
