OCCONEECHEE NECK – A man has been arrested after he allegedly took his neighbor’s truck out for a drunken spin here.

On Sunday, Northampton County Sheriff’s Captain Daryl M. Harmon arrested Stevie Thomas Scott, 35 of 195 Carolina Jones Road in Jackson, in connection with an incident that occurred on Feb. 1.

According to Harmon in that incident, Scott went to his neighbor’s residence when he noticed no one was home. He then entered his neighbor’s unlocked work truck.

“He got inside from an unlocked door and found the keys inside the truck and drove off,” said Harmon.

Scott, who was allegedly intoxicated, lost control of the vehicle on a curve on Occoneechee Road. The truck then struck a tree.

Harmon said the suspect sustained injuries in the crash.

“He received a broken ankle from the accident as well as injuries to his chest and back,” he said.

On Sunday, Harmon placed Scott under arrest and charged him with larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Scott was placed in the Northampton County Jail under a $4,000 bond. His first appearance in court was Monday.
