Halifax rallies past NEA

LASKER – Northeast Academy held a one-point advantage over Halifax Academy at the half, but the Lady Vikings came roaring back in the second to claim a 68-40 victory.
The Lady Eagles took a 5-0 lead after a bucket by Callie Burgess and three-point play from Betty Edwards.
Halifax scored the next nine points to take a 9-5 advantage.
The teams traded baskets before Northeast scored the final eight points, including four from Molly Hargrave, to claim a 15-11 lead at the end of the first.
Halifax tied the score at 18 on a Brittany Traylor hoop.
Edwards connected with Burgess for two baskets to pull Northeast back out front.
Bowser scored her first of six three-pointers to cut the Lady Eagles lead to one.
Burgess then took Lori Coggins’ pass to the hoop for two and Edwards added a foul shot, extending Northeast’s lead to four.
Bowser hit from beyond the arc just before the buzzer to keep Halifax within one, 25-24, at the half.
Lacy Pfeiffer scored a bucket and Edwards dropped in two as Northeast stretched their lead to seven, 31-24.
Halifax outscored the Lady Eagles 23-3 over the final six minutes of the third quarter to take a 47-34 advantage.
The Lady Vikings continued to control the game in the fourth quarter, holding Northeast to just six points, as they took a 68-40 win.
Edwards led the Lady Eagles with 15 points while Burgess added 10.
Bowser led all scorers with 24.
