Sallie M. Howard
AHOSKIE – Sallie Matthews Howard, 96, of the 600 block of East Stokes Street, died Thursday December 27, 2007 at Guardian Care of Ahoskie.
Mrs. Howard was born on March 17, 1911 in Bertie County. She was the daughter of the late Jake O. and Lucy Parker Matthews, a homemaker, and was the oldest member of Connaritsa Baptist Church in Aulander.
She was predeceased by her husband Curtis Howard Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, June Payne and husband, Otis, of Ahoskie, Brenda Lafon and husband, John,
of Windsor; one son, Curtis Howard Jr. and wife, Louise, of Murfreesboro; seven grandchildren, Tommy Howard and wife, Debbie, of Ahoskie, Stuart Howard and wife, Wendy, of Conway, Jackie Pierce and husband, Vann, of Ahoskie, Vickie Venable and husband, Donnie, of Alabama, Kay Wrenn of Ahoskie, David Lafon and wife, Anita, of Edenton, Lisa Belangia and husband, Calvin, of Aulander; ten great grandchildren, Neal and Casey Howard, Lauren Pridgen, Tyler and Drew Howard, Miranda Venable, Grant Venable, Kevin Wrenn Jr. and wife, Heather, Michael Wrenn and Hunter Lafon; three step great grandchildren, Lauren Pierce, Ryan Pierce and Chelsea Pierce; one sister, Rosa Howe of Portsmouth, Va., and several nieces and nephews,
A celebration service of Mrs. Howard’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday December 29, 2007 at Garrett Funeral Home Ashley Chapel, 205 NC Highway 42 West, Ahoskie, with Rev. Tommy Kiker officiating. Burial will follow in Aulander Cemetery.

Jordan R. White Sr.
AULANDER – Jordan Raleigh White Sr., 88, of the 1100 block of NC Highway 561 West, died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Mr. White was born in Bertie County, a son of the late Jordan Albert and Annie Butler White.
He was a member of St. John Baptist Church and was retired from Shoups Corporation.
Survivors include his daughters, Merilyn W. Taylor of Chesapeake, VA, Carolyn W. Askew of Eure and Pam W. Scott and husband, Jonathan, of Roxobel; his sons, Jordan R. White Jr. and wife, Racine, of Kelford, Ronald H. White and wife, Joan, of Winterville, James W. White and wife, Brenda, of Greenville, Reggie M. White and wife, Libbie, of St. John and Jeff
S. White and wife, Gloria, of Kelford; a sister, Annie B. Thomas of Chesapeake, VA; 22 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Jordan was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn H. White, and a son, Michael Wayne White.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at Highland Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Woody Copeland officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Libbie White, in St. John and will assemble at Garrett Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on Sunday, prior to services.
Garrett Funeral Home is serving the White family.
Clorine F. Liverman
AHOSKIE – Clorine Fennell Liverman, 76, of Liverman Mill Road, Ahoskie, died December 25, 2007 at Guardian Care Nursing Home.
Survivors include her husband, James Lee Liverman of Ahoskie; daughters, Angela Williams of Holly Springs, Evelyn Riddick of Ahoskie and Sharon Newsome of Woodland; sons, Douglas Liverman, Keith Liverman and Randy Liverman, all of Ahoskie; one sister, Ethel Eason of Murfreesboro; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29 at Menola First Baptist Church, Woodland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Cordelia R. Fleetwood
AHOSKIE – Cordelia Rosebud Fleetwood, 94, died December 24, 2007 at Guardian Care Nursing Home.
Fleetwood was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Willie Lee Sessoms of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Gladys Chamblee and Doris Bazemore of Ahoskie; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 29 at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Colerain, by Rev. Nathaniel Thompson.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Ahoskie.

Willie M. Bradley
HAMILTON, NJ – Willie Mae Bradley, 79, passed December 24, 2007 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton, NJ.
Born in Potecasi, N.C. and lived in Trenton, NJ for 55 years, Bradley was a retired employee of General Motors with 40 years of service. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she was a member of the Usher Board.
Bradley is survived by a son, William E. Bradley, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, Dec. 28 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Trenton, N.J. Local arrangements are by the Hughes Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements in North Carolina will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 31 at Second Baptist Potecasi Church.
Beatrice Speller
WINDSOR – Beatrice Speller, 91, of South King Street, Windsor, died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Brian Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 30 at Cedar Landing Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Windsor.

Lucille Newsome-White
SEABOARD – Lucille Newsome-White, 83, of Seaboard passed away Monday, December 24, 2007, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.
A native of Winton, she is survived by her children, George W. White and Leonard B. White, both of Winston-Salem, John Clarence White of Raleigh, Ella Louise Washington of Way Cross, Ga., Emma J. Whitby
of Weldon, Leah B. Boone of Seaboard, Eva M. Rogers of Raleigh, Nancy M. Ruffin
of Dallas and Shelia O. Ponton
of Pleasant Hill; two grandchildren; 32 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great-gandchildren; one sister, Mildred Williams of Fort Myers, Fla.; and one brother, Henry Newsome of Hickory.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 29, at the Northampton County High School-West auditorium in Gaston with Brother Raymond Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in the Phillip’s Cemetery in Seaboard.
