EURE – Jeanette Weeks Greene, 87, a native of McBeth, S.C., died December 16, 2007, in Guardian Care of Ahoskie. She was the widow of Haywood Greene.
Survivors include two sons, Joe and Larry, both of Eure; two sisters, Mary Weeks Osborne of Moncks Corner and Gladys Weeks Prescott of South Carolina; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral was conducted Wednesday in Eure Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. A private family burial followed in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main St., Gatesville, in charge.
Harry Frazer
COLERAIN n Harry Frazer, 65, a native of Harlem, NY, died December 16, 2007.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, Aulander. Burial will be in the Short-Weaver Family Cemetery, Colerain. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc., Aulander, is in charge.
Frazer was a retired butcher at Sloan Supermarket.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Weaver Frazer of Colerain; daughters, Angie Murphy of Bronx, NY, Denise Jenkins of Alabany and Harriat Murphy of New York; sons, Michael Murphy and Wayne Murphy, both of Bronx; sister, Leila Sivak and Beatrice Brown, both of the Bronx, Josephine Frazer and Francine Parker, both of New York; and a host of grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Eddie M. Wiggins
LEWISTON n Eddie Moses Wiggins, 67, a native of Bertie County, died December 17, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Wiggins was a member of Springhill Baptist Church, president of the usher board and
a retired truck driver with Rudolph Wesson Logging Company.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Thompson Wiggins of Lewiston; daughters, Veronica Richards of Hampton, Va., and Shavonda Powell of Youngville; sons, Markus Wiggins of Sumpter, SC, Edwin Wiggins of Hampton and Michael Powell of Williamston; a brother, Thomas Wiggins of Lewiston; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Mary D. Majette
BOSTON, MA – Mary Deloatch Majette, 81, a native of Hertford County, died December 16, 2007 at Boston Medical Center.
She retired from Gillette as an assembler.
Survivors include one son, Ralph Majette Jr. of Boston, MA; one daughter, Barbara Ann Jeffress of Boston;
and three grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Nebo Baptist Church by the Rev. James Vaughan. Burial will be in Carver Park Cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Murfreesboro, is in charge.
Lucille Clayton
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Lucille Clayton, 93, a native of Hertford County, died December 15, 2007 in Philadelphia.
Survivors include one son, Milton Clayton of Philadelphia; one daughter, Renee
C, Byrd of Georgia; three brothers, William, Alex and Fredrick
Cobb; and two sisters, Mildred Cobb and Darlene Boone.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Robert Lewis. Burial will be in Philadelphia at a later date. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.
Henry Boone Jr.
KINGSTON, NY – Henry &uot;Junior&uot; Boone Jr., 72, died December 12, 2007 at
Kingston Hospital.
Boone retired from Ulster County Building and Grounds and
had prior worked for Kingston Window Cleaning
Company. He was a member of Riverview Baptist
Church.
Survivors include his wife, Florrie Harden of Kingston; one daughter, Eunice &uot;Neicy&uot; Allen of Kingston; two sons, Steven Boone of Hurley and Marvin Boone
of Kingston; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Carolyn Boone and Nora Moody, both of Gates; and four brothers, James Boone of Wilkesboro, Lee Stanley Mooring of Murfreesboro, Ray Mooring of Gates and Larry Saunders of Atlantic City, NJ.
A funeral was conducted Monday at Riverview Missionary Baptist
Church by Rev. John H. Gilmore, Kingston. Services in North Carolina will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. by Rev. Jerry Boone at Hunter’s Funeral Home Chapel, Ahoskie. Burial will be in Saunders family cemetery.
Davie Eley
MURFREESBORO n Davie Eley, 74, a native of Hertford County, died December 15, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mount Sinai Church of God, Murfreesboro, by Elder Arthur Clark. Burial will be in Eley family cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.
Survivors include three sons, Jessie Eley of Hampton, Va., Tony Eley of Raleigh and Davie Eley Jr. of Hampton; four daughters, Jeneva Tyler of Murfreesboro, Linda Everette of Alexandria, Va., Nyoka Garcia of Como and Evangeline Bowser of Potecasi; two sisters, Doris Britt of Hampton and Sandra Fennell of Ahoskie; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
G. Christine Taylor
AHOSKIE – Geneva Christine Taylor 77, of the 600 Block of East Stokes Street, died December 18, 2007 at Guardian Care of Ahoskie.
Mrs. Taylor was a native of Martin County, NC, a homemaker, a member of Trinity Christian Church, and the daughter of the late Owen M. and Sallie Rawls Taylor. She was the widow of Jesse Ervin Taylor.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters; Linda T. Askew, Ahoskie, NC, Sally T. Keeter, Scotland Neck, NC, three sons; Willie Taylor, Aulander, NC, Jesse Taylor, Rocky Mount, NC, Michael Taylor, Woodland, NC, seven grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and Twelve great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter; Joyce Spruill.
A celebration of life service will be held for Mrs. Taylor 2:00 PM. Friday, December 21, 2007 at Garrett Funeral Home Ashley Chapel, 205 NC Highway 42 West, Ahoskie, NC with Rev. David Bryan and Rev. Lester Jarrett officiating, burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7-8:30 PM Thursday December 20, 2007, and other times at the home of her daughter Linda Askew, 2228 US 13 Ahoskie, NC.
