Conway man charged in animal crime

CONWAY – A man is facing two felonies after he allegedly committed a sex acts on an animal here, according to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.

Earl David Mace Jr., 22 of Highway 158 in Conway, stands charged with two counts of crimes against nature, which are class one felonies.

Sheriff’s Chief Detective Captain Daryl Harmon said the charges stem from two incidences that occurred Nov. 3 and Saturday (Nov. 17) at the home of the suspect’s grandmother.

Harmon said nearby neighbors happened to be walking in their backyard and observed Mace, who was next door, inside of a dog pen allegedly performing sex acts with a male adult dog.

Mace was taken into custody on Saturday by Harmon.

He was placed in the Northampton County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond.

Harmon said the animal did not appear to have any visual injuries.
