AULANDER – There has been another charge brought against a former Town of Aulander employee accused last month of sex crimes against a child.

William Jackson Cullipher was originally arrested September 26 and charged with indecent liberties with a minor and crimes against nature, both felonies.

The latest charge, lodged last week, is first-degree statutory sex offense against a child, another felony.

Cullipher, 35, who resided at 413 West Main Street at the time of his arrest, was initially placed in the Bertie Martin Regional Jail under a cash bond of $30,000.

With the additional charge against him, that bond has now been raised to $130,000 cash.

According to Aulander Police Chief Mike Patterson, the victim in the case is an unidentified 8-year-old girl, who was seven at the time the alleged crimes took place.

Cullipher formerly worked in the maintenance department with the Town of Aulander. He was officially terminated on the day of his arrest.

His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.
