Northeast tops RMA

ROCKY MOUNT – Northeast Academy won a shootout Thursday night.

The varsity football Eagles put up 68 points to defeat Rocky Mount Academy 68-48.

In the process, Northeast had four running backs surpass the century mark.

Brodie Harrell led the Eagles with 195 yards rushing on 19 carries while adding three touchdowns. Brandon Futrell then had 109 yards on 14 carries and added one touchdown.

Arch Harrell checked in with 104 yards rushing on 15 carries and a score while Russ Flythe had 12 carries for 100 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively the Eagles got eight tackles each from Hunter Deloatch and Arch Harrell while Flythe had six tackles and Josh Jenkins recorded five.

The Eagles are now 6-3 overall on the season and 5-3 in conference heading into next Friday’s Homecoming contest against Oak Ridge.
