James W. Harrell

HERTFORD – James Wesley Harrell, 91, a native of Perquimans County, died August 12, 2007, in Albemarle Hospital. He was the widower of Violet Nokomis H. Harrell.

Harrell was a retired farmer and a former salesman for J.C. Blanchard – John Deere Farm Equipment, a member of Woodland United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Men and the Durants Neck Ruritan Club.

Survivors include two daughters, June H. Piland of Clayton and Jill H. Kahl of Hertford; four sons, James Patrick &uot;Pat&uot; Harrell, Jesse Vance Harrell, Joe Allen Harrell and James Wesley &uot;Jimmy&uot; Harrell Jr., all of Hertford; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held Wednesday in Woodland United Methodist Church with burial following in Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Eure. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to the Woodland United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, 453 Woodland Church Road, Hertford, NC 27944.

Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services were in charge.

Gregory N. Davis

SEABOARD – Gregory N. Davis, 18, died August 11, 2007.

A funeral was conducted Tuesday in Seaboard Baptist Church. Burial was in Seaboard Cemetery. Askew Funeral & Cremation, Roanoke Rapids, is in charge.

Anthony R. Baker

OHIO – Anthony R. Baker, 46, died August 3, 2007.

A funeral was conducted near his home in Ohio. Cards and flowers may be sent in care of Walker Funeral Home, 7830 Hamilton Ave, Mt. Healthy, OH 45231.

Survivors include his wife, Jean E. Baker; children, Anthony S. Henley of Richmond, Va., Amanda R. Baker and Travis A. Baker, both of Fairfield; and one granddaughter.

Cecil Jones

GASTON n Cecil Jones, 46, died August 14, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, is in charge.

Hurley Foulk

GATES n Hurley Foulk, died August 13, 2007 at his residence.

A service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Corinth Chapel, Suffolk, Va., by the Rev. Millard Boone. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hunter’s Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge. Website n www.huntersfuneralhome.com.

Foulk was a member of Corinth Chapel. He was a member of the Trustee Board and the men’s chorus.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Hudley of Gates; two sons, Hurley A. Foulk of Virginia Beach and Myrtle Rogers of Franklin; one brother, Calvin Foulk of Franklin; and six grandchildren.

James C. Askew

AHOSKIE –

James Clinton “Bo” Askew, 67, a native of Hertford County, died August 13, 2007 at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

Askew was a member of Mt. Pleasant

Baptist Church, Harrellsville. He retired after 22 years of service as a sanitation worker with the Town of Ahoskie.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Life Ministries Church, Winton, by Pastor Denise Hardy. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Survivors include a daughter, Edith Marie McClellon of Arlington, Texas; one son, Tracy Scott Tann of Ahoskie; a sister, Martha Marie Askew of Harrellsville; and three grandchildren.

Rosia L. Lee

WINDSOR n Rosia Lean “Gail” Lee, 71, a native of Bertie County, died August 13, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

She was a member of Emmanuel Full Gospel Church,

Windsor, and retired as a social worker with the City of New York.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Carr of Lawrenceville, GA; a son, Johnnie White of Aulander; brothers, Winston Lee Jr. of Lewiston and Willie Lee of Aulander; sisters, Annie Lee of Lewiston and Ruth Lee of Robersonville; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Emmanuel Full Gospel Church, Windsor, by Pastor Gregory Gilliam. Burial will be in Weeping Mary Baptist Church Cemetery, Lewiston. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Hattie Mosley

LEWISTON n Hattie Mosley, died August 14, 2007 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie.

She was a member at St. Luke Healing Temple in Lewiston.

Survivors include five sons, Andrew, George and James Mosley, all of Windsor, Thedious Mosley of Brooklyn NY and Thomas Mosley of Florida; two daughters, Mozella M. Green of Suffolk, Va. and Alice Mosley Bonds of Windsor; one brother, Raymond Mosley of Aulander; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday at St. Luke Healing Temple in Lewiston by Bishop Early Gay Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge.

Farrenkopf

WINDSOR n Deborah Sue Ashworth Farrenkopf, 54, died Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Martin General Hospital.

Survivors include two daughters, Amy Swain and Amanda Farrenkopf both of Ahoskie; one son, Andrew Farrenkopf of Greenville; one sister, Tammy Lee of Colerain; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Askewville Assembly of God by the Rev. R. O. Denton.The family will receive friends and relatives following the memorial service and other times at the home of Amy Swain, 405 W. Church Street, Ahoskie. ORLANDO, FL n Lawrence Bandy, 41, formerly of Halifax County, died on August 14, 2007 in Orlando.

Jayden Artis

ELIZABETH CITY – Jayden Artis, infant son of Xavier Artis and Matisha Askew of Elizabeth City, died August 11, 2007 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Va.

Survivors include his paternal grandmother, Nora Mae Artis of Ahoskie; and his maternal grandparents, Marcia Swain Askew of Colerain and Frankie Mitchell of Ahoskie.

Cremation services will be held at a later date.
