JACKSON – People in Jackson who need flowers or who are interested in decorating their homes now have a new place to shop.
In May, Bonnie Boone and Wayne Massey opened a florist and interior decorating shop together and the grand opening and ribbon cutting for the businesses was on July 18.
The B’Hive is Boone’s interior decorating business and Flowers by Wayne is Massey’s florist.
Boone said she used to have an interior decorating business a few years ago, but it closed.
She said one aspect she enjoys about having her own business is that she can make her own hours.
She has been an interior decorator for 20 years.
Massey has been a florist for about 29 years and he had a flower shop in Seaboard for four years before closing that location.
After both of their businesses closed, Massey and Boone started talking about opening a business together.
“The businesses go along well together,” said Massey.
“When people come in, they see both the flowers and the decorations for homes.”
“Wayne is a very creative person,” said Boone.
“I can bounce ideas off of him and we balance each other well.”
“There has been a lot of support here,” said Boone.
“Never underestimate the power of small towns.”
The joint business venture is located at 109 West Jefferson Street and can be contacted by phone at either 534-1600 or 534-1700.
