GATESVILLE – A two-vehicle accident near here Thursday left a Gates County man hospitalized.

According to a report filed by North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper S.A. McFarland, a 2005 KYMCO moped being operated by Theodore Roosevelt Harrell, 56, of Carter Road in Gatesville was traveling south on S.R. 1100.

A 1990 Ford pickup truck, operated by Sheryl Blanchard Wright, 51, of Hollywood, Florida was also traveling south on the same road.

Wright’s vehicle was stopped in the travel lane when the moped struck the stopped vehicle, overturned and ejected the operator.

Harrell, who was wearing a helmet, was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

No charges have been filed.
