Conway man faces drug charges

CONWAY – A man has been arrested here on five drug related charges, according to the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office.

Northampton County Sheriff’s Sergeant Harold Phillips reported the arrest of Dennis Wingate Deloatch, 53, of 1987 Deberry Mill Pond Road in Conway.

Deloatch was charged with felony possession of cocaine, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

On Tuesday, Phillips along with Captain George Reed, Deputy Josh Langley (both with Northampton County Sheriff’s Office) and Jackson Police Chief John Young served a narcotics search warrant of the residence after surveillance.

Phillips said during the search of the residence the officers discovered several items, including powder cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and $320 in cash.

Digital scales, spoons, razor blades, mirrors, straws were among alleged drug paraphernalia found.

Phillips said .22 caliber rifle, muzzle loader and several boxes of ammunition were also taken from the residence.

Phillips said Carl Albert VanVliet, 63, who lives at the same residence was cited for simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deloatch was taken to the Northampton County Jail and placed under an $11,000 secured bond. His first appearance in court was Thursday.
