LEWISTON n Michele Huff Clark, 48, a native of New Jersey and lived in Lewiston, died June 24, 2007 at Bertie Memorial Hospital, Windsor.

She was a member of Alphensia Baptist Church in New Jersey and was last employed with Home Depot and as a nurse’s aide in NJ

Survivors include her husband, William Frank Clark of Lewiston; her father,

Plainsfield; a son, Dorian Black of New Jersey; a daughter, Carprice Black of New Jersey; and her brothers, Michael Huff of Columbia, SC, William Huff, Paul Turner, Jermaine Govahn and LaVar Govahn, all of New Jersey.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Charity Temple Holiness Church, Aulander by Bishop James E. Clark Sr. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Mildred Tillery

ROANOKE RAPIDS n Mildred Tillery, 67, died June 27, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Church of Deliverance in Weldon, by Elder William Cheeks. Interment will be in Crestview Memorial Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at H.D. Pope Funeral Home.

Maner Ward Jr.

SEABOARD n Maner Ward Jr., 79, died June 25, 2007 at Hampton Woods Nursing Home in Jackson.

A funeral was conducted Friday at New Corinth Church in Cairo, Ga., by the Rev. Sylvester Williams. Interment was in Crestview Cemetery, Cario. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Roanoke Rapids, and Weston Funeral Home, Cairo, was in charge.

Leth R. Webb

WELDON n Leth Rachel Webb, 39, died June 25, 2007 at Pitt Memorial Hospital, Greenville.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at House of Prayer, Halifax. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., also at House of Prayer. Interment will be in Chapel Grove Memorial Cemetery, Garysburg. H.D. Pope Funeral Home is in charge.

Betty Sanderlin

WINDSOR n Betty Joyce Sanderlin, 75, died June 29, 2007.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, is in charge.

She was the organist for St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Windsor and taught music.

She is survived by a brother, Truman Sanderlin.

Nell Dawson

WINDSOR n Nell White Dawson, 69, a native of Bertie County, died June 27, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of George Dawson.

Mrs. Dawson was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Askewville Baptist Church.

A funeral was conducted Friday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Frank Stansburg. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Tommy Dawson, Ricky Dawson and Craig Dawson, all of Windsor and Mike Dawson of Henderson; four daughters, Martha D. Harrison, Betsy D. Byrum and Vicky D. White, all of Windsor, and Brenda Dawson of Aulander; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Matilda Pridgen

ROCKY MOUNT n Matilda Pridgen, 98, died June 24, 2007 at Nash General Hospital.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at The Scripture Center, Rocky Mount. A visitation will be held from 12 noon until 1 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the church. H.D. Pope Funeral Home is in charge.

Troy Sharpe

ROCKY MOUNT n Troy Sharpe, 43, died June 25, 2007 at his residence.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Church of God of Deliverance, Rocky Mount. Interment will be in Gardens of Gethsemane. A visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. H.D. Pope Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge.

Dana G. Hall

CONWAY n Dana Gillikin Hall, 58, died June 28, 2007 at Halifax Regional Medical Center, Roanoke Rapids.

Mrs. Hall was a homemaker and a member of Conway Baptist Church.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Town of Conway Cemetery with the Rev. Willie McLawhorn. The family have requested that anyone wishing to share a memorial gift, please do so to the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Bridgers Funeral Home, Conway, is in charge.

Survivors include her husband, L.C. Hall of the home; a son, Carl Hall of Chester, Va.; her mother, Dorothy M. Jenkins of Roanoke Rapids; one brother, Russell James of Gaston; and three sisters, Florence Harrell of Amelia, Va., Sue Judkins of Suffolk and Dottie Benton of Union.

Pauline B. Sullivan

MURFREESBORO – Pauline Brown Sullivan, 89, a native of Stuart, Iowa, died June 26, 2007, in Rich Square Health Care Center. She was the widow of Joseph Francis Sullivan.

Mrs. Sullivan was a retired cost accountant with Sealtest Foods and served many years as church treasurer at First Presbyterian Church, Ahoskie. She was a member of the Murfreesboro Lioness Club and was a women’s auxiliary volunteer at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Survivors include five daughters, Evelyn L. Wright of Forest, Va., Sharon A. Baxter of Dinwiddie and Surry, Janet F. Slough of Harrisonburg, Susan S. Gilstrap of Richmond, and Betsy J. Theodorakis of Murfreesboro; five sisters, Vivian Withrow of Midland, Evelyn McGhee of Purceville, Bernie Wells and Mary Ella Brumfield of Luray and Bertie Lou Carpenter of Charlottesville; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A funeral was held in the Mausoleum Chapel of West Hampton Memorial Park, Richmond, Friday with the Rev. Dr. Brenda Halbrooks. Burial followed in the Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hertford County Habitat for Humanity, 301 E. Main St., Murfreesboro, NC 27855 or Heifer International, P.O. Box 1692, Merrifield, VA 22116-1692. WINDSOR n Mary Leicester Edwards, 87, a native of Bertie County, died June 28, 2007 at Bertie Memorial Hospital. She was the widow of Herbert Ellis Edwards.

A graveside funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Edgewood Cemetery by the Rev. Eric Lockhart. The family will receive friends from the home of Michael Edwards, 1931 Cooper Hill Road. Memorial gifts may be made to either the Bertie County Rescue Squad, PO Box 74, Windsor, NC 27983 or to Lawrence Baptist Church, 1043 Cooper Hill Road, Windsor, NC 27983. Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and member of Lawrence Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Michael Edwards of Windsor; a sister, Bertha Barnacasel of Windsor; two brothers, Aubrey Leicester and Melvin Leicester, both of Windsor; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

AHOSKIE n Lorenzo Brandon, died June 26, 2007, at his residence.

Brandon was a member of Piney Wood Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as an usher.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Brandon of Ahoskie; two sons, Lorenzo Brandon Jr. of Maryland and Robert Lee of Charlotte; two daughters, Juanita Beans of Bronx, NY and Pastor Peggy Beale of Murfreesboro; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
