Robert Nowell

AHOSKIE n Robert Nowell, 57, a native of Hertford County, died May 7, 2007 at Norfolk Sentara Hospital, Norfolk, Va.

Nowell was last employed as a truck driver for Easco Aluminum Company and Ames Trucking Company in Winton.

Survivors include his wife, Willie Luo (Kat) Nowell of the home; a daughter, Shawanda Eley of Tunis; three brothers, Edward F. Nowell of Greenville, Marvin W. Nowell of Charlotte and Darrie Nowell of Riverdale, GA; two sisters, Mary V. Watford of Murfreesboro and Shirley M. Keys of Jamesville; and three grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Soul Saving Station Evangelistic Center, Ahoskie, by the Rev. Jarvis Parker. Burial will be in the Newsome-Bryant family cemetery, Union. Wilder’s Funeral Home, Inc., Aulander, is in charge.

Eloise C. Draper

CONWAY n Eloise Creech Draper, 87, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007, at Fountains of the Albemarle in Tarboro. She had been preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Joe Frank Draper.

A native of Benson, NC, she was a retired North Carolina Public School Teacher and member of Conway United Methodist Church. Her hobby was knitting and she created many beautiful sweaters and Afghans for family and friends.

Survivors include two children, David C. Draper and wife, Linda of Mt. Pleasant, SC and Joan D. Yalch and husband, Bill of Rocky Mount; three grandchildren, Candice Bowman, Ginger Berrier and Kim Wall; and two great-grandchildren, Chase Bowman and Cooper Berrier.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. at Conway United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lindsey Green and the Rev. John Butson presiding. Burial will follow in the Conway Cemetery.

The family received friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc., in Conway, Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and have requested that in lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Conway United Methodist Church, 213 S. Church St., Conway, NC 27820.

Margie H. Baylor

WASHINGTON, D.C. n Margie H. Baylor, formerly of Sunbury, died April 24, 2007.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19 at V.C. Temple F.W.C. Hwy. 32, 500 Carolina Rd. Donations may be made to V.c. Temple F.W.C. in her memory.

Survivors include two sisters, Isabell Sutton of Sunbury and Roberta Hawk of Hertford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Oray Keys

MURFREESBORO n Oray Keys, 91, a native of Edgecombe County, died May 6, 2007 at Guardian Care Nursing Home.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Murfreesboro by the Rev. Robert Richardson. Burial will be in Carver’s Park Cemetery. Hertford County Undertakers, Winton, is in charge.

Survivors include two daughters, Westelle K. Cherry of Ahoskie and Margaret Hampton of Murfreesboro; one son, George M. Keys of Raleigh; one sister, Mary Hampton of Queens, NY; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

John D. Sessoms

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — John David &uot;JD&uot; Sessoms, 62, a native of Hertford County, died May 7, 2007 at Virginia Beach General Hospital.

Sessoms was last employed with ConAir in New York

Survivors include his brothers, William Randolph of Ahoskie and James Sessoms of Camden, NJ; and a sister, Betty Fitchett of Audubon, Pa.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilder’s Funeral Home Chapel, Aulan-der, by the Rev. Jerome Shoulars.

Burial will be in the Wilder’s-Cherry Family Cemetery, Aulander.
